Anal Intelligence is a semi-enclosed, semi-open computational apparatus—partly local, partly networked. Like a satellite, and like the lamps of an offshore fishing vessel, it emits a seductive light only to swiftly swallow it back. Anal Intelligence attempts to digest: surplus productive capacity; hyper-edited images; the excretions of energy; humans captured under regimes of active vision. It records the sensory transformations of both the human tentacle and the human mind as they confront the next technological revolution.

In a world where production is digestion and digestion is production, Anal Intelligence seeks to cultivate a wisdom of digestion—one that may alleviate the cognitive distress caused by the blockage of the luminous orifices (the eyes, ears, nose, and throat) by excessive flows of information and images.
